As Christians, we are called to follow our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. How can we follow God’s will or walk in his ways if we are not in His word? The discipline of reading Scripture is imperative. We’re called to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily and follow Jesus (Luke 9:23. Part of denying ourselves is to recognize that our thoughts aren’t His thoughts and our ways aren’t His ways (Is. 55:8-9). Psalm 119 exhorts us about the transformational value of the Word (see also 2 Tim. 3:14-4:2; Heb. 4:12-13; 1 Pet. 1:22-2:3). Psalm 145 gives an ideal response to God, “Every day I will bless you.”
How to get the most out of this site
We will be following the Bible Reading Plan below that has an OT and NT reading for each day taking us through the Bible in one year. Feel free to read them in one sitting or separately, morning and evening.
My daily blog posts will consist of a comment on a verse, theme, or section of the daily reading. Because I am doing this everyday, I will keep posts brief (usually less than 300 words), yet always attempting a meaningful devotional on Scripture in context (within the specific section, book, and overall canon of Scripture). Feel free to leave comments or questions, which I will respond to as time allows.
